How do I run this game on GNU/Linux and Steam Deck? I tried to add this game as a non-Steam game so I can run it with Proton. The game did not work in Proton, so I then installed the Android version into WayDroid, but that method always crashes to desktop as well.
Had 2.2.1. Installed 2.3.1. Other games grab the status and continue, but when I start the exe in the newer one it act as if it's a new game. How do I get it to recognize context?
The latest version of the game that you can download for free from this site is 0.3.2.
And no additional actions are required to transfer saves - they are stored in the AppData folder and should be found by any version of the game after 0.2 automatically.
Hi! I recently started playing this and love it! Playing the latest free version, it did suddenly shut down once, moving from Grace's room to the hallway. I'm not sure if this was a glitch or what. Barring that, it's a lot of fun. even if the battle area is a little slow to start (getting everything prepped so 2 goblins is easy and fighting stronger stuff doesn't knock me out takes a bit!)

Regarding crashes - we have heard about this a few times, but no error logs have been sent to us yet. Because of this, we have no way to understand the problem.
After the next crash, if you have the opportunity, please send us the log file on Discord.It's located in C:\Users[USER_NAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Wild Pear\Magic Academy and named Player.log and Player-prev.log.
I'm running version 0.3.2 on windows and I can't complete the "ghostly attire" quest becuse the forest thicket boss never spawns. I've loaded the forest thicket journey like 5 times and there's no boss. Everything else works fine though.
I'm afraid you're just out of luck. Restart the adventure until it appears. When generating the world, apparently there are simply no empty cells left for it to appear. We'll study the generation settings of this world.
Are you sure you are going on the right Journey? There are several options, and a small chibi smiley on their cards shows which boss can be encountered there and whether it's possible at all.
It’s the forest thicket one that is labeled as being dangerous. I mean there are only 3 adventure options available to me so far. I’ve done the easy one with no bosses and then the moderate difficulty one with the ice elf boss and all the snowmen, and now there is this forest thicket one. But no boss to be found.
Hi. Most likely, you won't be able to do this. We had the idea to implement cloud saves, but it's not a priority right now. Saved files are stored on your devices in the ../storage/emulated/<userid>/Android/data/com.WildPear.MagicAcademy/files folder. But I don't know if it's possible to access them without root privileges.
On Android 10 and below, those folders can be easily accessed without root in any file manager.
Android 11 screwed this up to near completion. For whatever reason, these folders, that are supposed to be in the user-accessible External Storage, are now protected, so root is required to access, or at least methods like Shizuku or the WayDroid file permission workarounds.

Why doesn't it open in full screen? It just looks like a Full Screen Window :(
Have you tried switching the display mode in the settings? If that doesn't help, try pressing Alt+Enter.
Yeah, the Android version doesn't work for me. What ABIs is this game compiled for? Does it support x86 and/or x86_64 Android devices?

The Windows version does not work on Wine/Proton. The game requires Windows 10, which will be slow on a Type 2 hypervisor on Steam Deck.
Hence, I tried the Android version instead.
And I cannot easily play these types of games on a desktop PC. It is due to a physical/medical incompatibility with the desktop form factor.

I think Proton didn't work because it currently hasn't implemented an essential Windows function yet. No way to bypass the error screen.
No idea on why WayDroid failed me though.

Most likley my device, but the game just wont let me click anything. aka i get stuck on the "are you 18+" screen.
